(Web Desk): The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has announced a weekly Saturday holiday for its partner schools, effective immediately.
The Punjab Education Foundation has made an important decision by officially announcing a weekly Saturday holiday in all partner schools operating under its supervision.
Previously, these schools only observed Sunday as a weekly off. The new schedule, which begins in November 2025 and runs until April 15, 2026, grants students two days of weekly holiday.
The PEF also updated the daily working hours. School will now operate from 8:45 am to 1:30 pm on most days, with a shorter finish time of 12:30 pm on Fridays.

According to the PEF spokesperson, partner schools previously did not observe a Saturday holiday, which meant they were functioning six days a week. School heads and parents had repeatedly expressed concerns about this policy, noting that the long academic schedule was contributing to student fatigue and declining performance. Taking these concerns into account, PEF has now approved a weekly holiday.
Along with the holiday, PEF has also revised the school timings. Under the new schedule, partner schools will start at 8:45 AM and close at 1:30 PM, from Monday to Thursday. On Friday, schools will close at 12:30 PM to allow students time for Friday prayers and to ease the end-of-week workload.
PEF has also clarified the implementation period for these new timings. The revised schedule will remain in effect until April 15, 2026. During this time, the administration will review the outcomes, challenges, and possibilities for improvement. If feedback from students, teachers, and parents is positive, the new schedule may be adopted as a permanent policy.
