The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has announced major reforms to the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT), aiming to modernize the examination system and make it more transparent and globally aligned.
According to sources, the council plans to develop a new MDCAT framework within the next one to two weeks. The move comes after widespread complaints and irregularities reported during MDCAT 2025, prompting authorities to overhaul the system for future admissions.
Sources said that once the framework is finalized, the Reforms Committee will meet in November to review recommendations and finalize proposals. The PM&DC intends to introduce modern technology and digital solutions in the examination process to eliminate errors, improve efficiency, and ensure fair assessment standards.
Officials said the revamped MDCAT will follow international best practices, ensuring that the evaluation process is merit-based and transparent. The reforms are expected to strengthen trust among students, parents, and educational institutions.

A PM&DC representative noted that the new exam model will focus on improving question quality, test design, and secure marking systems. The goal is to bring Pakistan’s medical entry test in line with the standards followed by leading global examination bodies.
Education experts have welcomed the development, saying it could help restore confidence in the medical entrance system and enhance the credibility of medical and dental education in Pakistan.
