The decision was revealed during a high-level meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The session reviewed progress on major projects including Nawaz Sharif IT City, the Central Business District (CBD), and Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) initiatives.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that the groundbreaking ceremony for the Imperial College London campus will be held in November this year. The new facility will include a state-of-the-art 300-bed teaching hospital aimed at advancing medical research and education in Pakistan.
Maryam Nawaz directed authorities to complete the Ravi River protection embankment before the next flood season to prevent potential disasters. She further instructed that all upcoming development projects should be completed swiftly, with progress reports submitted every three months.
This marks a major milestone in Pakistan’s higher education sector, as Imperial College’s arrival could bring world-class research and technology programs to the country.
The combination of an IT hub and a teaching hospital positions Lahore as a growing center for innovation. Experts believe this partnership could enhance Pakistan’s global academic reputation and boost foreign investment in the education and healthcare sectors.
