A serious road accident occurred on Lahore Canal Road when a van carrying wedding guests lost control due to high speed and plunged into a roadside canal. What began as a happy journey quickly turned into scenes of grief.

Rescue officials said the passengers were heading to attend a wedding ceremony when the accident happened. Rescue teams reached the spot immediately after receiving the alert and began emergency operations.

The injured were pulled out of the canal and given first aid at the scene. According to rescue sources, one person died on the spot while five others were injured in the crash.

Among the injured are a young girl, a woman and a man who were shifted to the ICU due to their critical condition. Four injured were taken to Doctors Hospital, while one was moved to Jinnah Hospital for treatment.

The deceased was identified as 55-year-old Hanif. His body was shifted to the morgue for legal formalities. Family members and wedding guests were seen in deep shock after the tragic incident.

Police said initial findings point to overspeeding and driver negligence as the main causes of the accident. Further investigation is under way.
