KARACHI (Web Desk): A large consignment of smuggled mobile phones worth approximately Rs87 million during an intelligence-based operation on Thursday morning.

Acting on credible information, the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Karachi i tracked a Mazda truck transporting the phones from Balochistan to Karachi. Plainclothes squads were deployed at key points to intercept the vehicle.

The Mazda truck, registration number NAF-859, was stopped at Hamdard Checkpost and later shifted to the CPF Warehouse for a detailed inspection.

During the search, 803 assorted-brand mobile phones, including iPhone, Vivo, Google Pixel, Infinix, and Spark, were recovered from a hidden compartment inside the truck.

The seized mobile phones are valued at around Rs62,000,000, while the Mazda vehicle is estimated at Rs25,000,000, making the total worth of the seizure approximately Rs87,000,000.

The driver and helper were taken into custody, and an FIR has been lodged. Further legal proceedings are underway under the relevant laws.

Authorities said the operation reflects FBR’s ongoing efforts to combat smuggling and curb illicit trade in Pakistan.

This operation highlights how intelligence-based action can stop high-value smuggling. Authorities are increasing vigilance to prevent illegal trade and protect the local market.
