Sources said DIG Investigation Zeeshan Raza handed over the probe to SP Model Town Dr Ayaz two days ago. A special investigation team, led by SP Investigation Model Town, traced the double murder step by step.

Investigators revealed that DSP Usman Haider killed his wife and daughter inside his own car. At the time of the crime, his wife was sitting on the front seat while the daughter was on the back seat. The vehicle was on the Ring Road when the incident took place.

Police sources said the accused first buried his wife’s body. After disposing of her body, he hid the daughter’s body in the Mela Ram area of Kahna. The murders were committed on September 25.

After the double murder, the accused cleaned his car and tried to destroy evidence to avoid suspicion. However, investigators later recovered the vehicle used in the crime.

Investigation sources said Usman Haider claimed his wife and daughter were demanding money, including for purchasing a plot. He told investigators that he had some funds, but they were spent on his siblings’ marriages. In anger over these demands, he killed both of them.

Sources further said the accused misled police teams for nearly two months. He even registered a fake kidnapping case of his wife and daughter himself. Blood samples and other key evidence were recovered from the car.

Police officials said once evidence was presented, the accused could not deceive investigators for long and eventually confessed to his crime.
