Woman who ran over a cop sent to jail on judicial remand

ISLAMABAD: (Sadaaqat Ali) A court in Islamabad on Thursday sent a woman, who ran over a traffic police cop, to jail on a judicial remand after refusing the police request seeking her physical remand.

 The police had requested a five-day physical remand of accused Farah. In the capital city, she had attempted to run over a traffic police personnel with her car. The incident took place on January 2 and resulted in injuries to a police officer named Sabir.

The video of the incident is viral on the social media platfroms, where the woman can be seen arguing with the policemen over their inappropriate language, and then running over another cop who refused to move aside from his position.

Accused Farah who is stated to be a PhD doctor was arrested after three months of the hit-and-run incident.

Last Wednesday, police arrested her from Islamabad following the widely circulated video showing her engaging in the confrontation.

When the arrested accused Farah was brought before the court, the investigating officer was asked that the accused was sent to Adiala jail on judicial remand for 14 days. Assault with intent to kill.

During the hearing, the investigating officer said that she had committed a heinous crime. The documents of the vehicle are to be recovered from the accused, he added.
