SUKKUR (Web Desk): A fierce gun battle between two rival groups of Mirani clansmen resulted in a death of a woman and a youth in Dad Mohammad Mirani village of Tangwani taluka in Kandhkot-Kashmore district on Tuesday.

According to natives and the area police, the two sides had long been at daggers drawn over a matter of ‘honour’. They took up sophisticated firearms and fought a battle, they said, adding that four persons sustained bullet wounds and two of them died on the spot.

The deceased were identified as Alisha Mirani and 20-year-old Asad Mirani and one of the wounded victims as Ghulam Nabi.

Intermittent firing continued till late in the evening as both sides had taken up positions in their respective dwellings.

Officials at the Ghouspur police station said that deployment had been made around the village and personnel were trying to bring the situation under control.

It should be remembered that a couple was also killed in Balochistan over a matter of honour in June. The video of the incident went viral on social media in the last week of July in which a girl was shot dead, on the order of Jirga, by her brother in the presence of at least 20 tribesmen.

The Baloshistan government took notice of the incident and called it a test-case for their administration. No significant development has been come to the light so far.
