Fugitive Teefi Butt claims innocence in Balaj Tipu murder case

LAHORE: (Web Desk) Teefi Butt, a fugitive sought by police in Ameer Balaj Tipu murder case, has come to the fore claiming his innocence.

In a video statement, Tareef Gulshan alias Teefi Butt claimed that that he had nothing to do with the offence of killing the son of Tipu Tarackanwala.

The main accused in the case said, “I have nothing to do with this murder,” and said that he was grieved over the tragic incident. He said that he would return to Pakistan soon, surrender to the police and get his statement recorded.

In the video statement, he said, “The police should work honestly if I am wrong, punish me, otherwise protect me like other innocent people.” He alleged that the police were wrongly implicating him in the murder case, rather he was innocent.

He mention past incidents saying that also Billa Trackanwala and Tipu Trackanwala, the grandfather and father of Balaj Tipu respectively, were killed by their former employee Hanif Baba’s gang.

“I had no enmity with Tipu. He suffered murder attacked a many times. In one of such attacks, he was murdered,” he said.

He further said that once or twice, he conveyed the news to Tipu that Hanif Baba's group was going to kill him. He detailed, “Once Tipu’s mother was admitted to a hospital in Mazang and there was a plan to target him. I myself told a close aide of Tipu to prevent him from going to the hospital. Why would I tell Tipu about the attack if I was going to get him killed?”

The statement comes after the police said that a team would soon arrest Teefi Butt in a week from the US whereto he went from the United Arab Emirates. The police obtained the travel documents of Teefi Butt. According to which he fled abroad from Islamabad Airport on February 19.

The police contacted the Ministry of Interior to obtain a red warrant for the arrest of Teefi Butt and the police investigation team related to the case then contacted Interpol after getting red warrant.
