As Adiala Jail prisoner escapes, officers among six suspended

RAWALPINDI: After a drug dealer escaped from Adiala Jail, the jail staff spent the whole day investigating the incident but delayed informing the local police.

Due to their negligence, 6 employees, including two assistant superintendents, were suspended for 90 days. The prisoner escaped on Wednesday morning during construction work inside the jail. According to the police, the escapee was handed over to the jail staff, after which he escaped from their custody.

In the evening, when the jail staff counted the prisoners, they noticed that the accused Nauman was missing. CCTV footage showed him passing through three security checkposts in the jail.

IG Prisons Farooq Nazir took notice of the escape and ordered the suspension of Assistant Superintendents Altaf Hussain and Sajjad Haider, Head Warder Riaz, and warders Imran Khan, Ammar Zahoor, and Sheer Zaman.
