Dense fog continued to paralyze routine life in major cities of Pakistan, severely reducing visibility and compelling authorities to shut multiple motorway sections to prevent accidents and traffic mishaps.
According to a Motorway Police spokesperson, several key routes were closed for all kinds of traffic due to near-zero visibility. These include the M2 motorway from Lahore to Hiran Minar, M3 from Lahore to Darkhana, M4 from Faisalabad to Multan, M5 from Multan to Zahir Pir and Guddu to Rohri, and the M11 motorway from Lahore to Sialkot.
The persistent fog has significantly affected traffic flow in Punjab and adjoining regions, while several stretches of the National Highway also experienced severe disruptions, with visibility ranging between zero and 100 meters.

Motorway Police officials advised commuters to avoid unnecessary travel, especially during late-night and early-morning hours when fog intensity peaks. Authorities emphasized that safe travel hours during foggy conditions are between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm, when visibility generally improves.
Drivers who must travel have been urged to strictly follow lane discipline, reduce speed, maintain safe distances, avoid sudden braking, and ensure fog lights are switched on at all times. Motorists were also encouraged to use alternative routes such as the Grand Trunk (GT) Road wherever possible.
Health experts have warned children, elderly individuals, and people suffering from respiratory illnesses to limit outdoor exposure due to hazardous air quality caused by fog and pollution. Officials confirmed that both weather and visibility conditions are being continuously monitored, and closed motorway sections will reopen once conditions improve.
Citizens have been advised to stay updated through official traffic advisories and contact the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) helpline 130 for real-time traffic updates, route guidance, and emergency assistance.
