Only education can change nation’s destiny: CJP Isa

ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa said on Saturday that the promotion of education is the only way to change the nation’s destiny.

Addressing a training workshop, the CJP mentioned that today’s session was organized for court reporters. “You are the source of information. Article 19 of the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees freedom of the press. Access to information has now become a fundamental right in the country.”

He said that decisions regarding access to information can be downloaded from the website of the apex court. The Supreme Court has written in its judgment that if an institution does not provide information, it should state the reason.

The chief justice said that the apex court judgments provide that institutions funded by the public are accountable to the people.

Regarding current state of affairs of the top judiciary, the CJP said, “A full court session of judges was summoned after four years to fulfill their responsibilities. Important cases are being directly published. Soon after being sworn in on September 17, I thought to let the public know what the judges do in the court.”

He revealed that a three-month report has been released on the Supreme Court website. He said that the report includes decisions of important cases and all judicial actions. The Supreme Court has disposed of a number of cases from new entries in the last three months. He maintained that reports on cases under consideration are uploaded on weekly basis.

“We have kept all the records in front of the public and the media to ensure accountability. He said that for the first time in Pakistan’s history, a female registrar has been appointed, and that some vehicles have also been returned to the state.

Qazi Isa said, “If the destiny of a nation is to be changed, it is only possible through education. I myself attended the syndicate meeting of Quaid-e-Azam University. A decision was made to revive the students’ union. The procedure of the Supreme Judicial Council has also been changed. Old complaints of the Supreme Judicial Council have been heard first. We are working to improve the Federal Judicial Academy. For the first time, the Supreme Court has issued all information on the website.”
