Minister Ibrahim Murad claims record work during his tenure
LAHORE: (Paid Content) Caretaker Provincial Minister for Transport, Minerals and Livestock Ibrahim Hasan Murad has claimed that during his tenure he discharged his responsibilities diligently by completing various development projects and launching several public welfare schemes across the Punjab province.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, he said that as Minister of Local Government, he streamlined $1 billion foreign-funded development projects, added Rs 2.2 billion to provincial exchequer through better auction of 118 cattle markets, and raised property tax collection by Rs10 billion. “I also launched youth volunteer program with over 10,000+ registrations. I laid off 5,000 ghost employees of Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) saving Rs100 million monthly. I also launched Safai Nisf Iman campaign to dispose 200,000 tons of waste. I launched Ap Baldiya Aap Ki 1198 helpline to provide services at the people’s doorsteps. During his tenure, I made- 1,500 postings on merit,” he said.
Ibrahim Murad further said that as Minister for Mines, he ensured Rs2.17 billion increase in non-tax revenue, and launched roadmap to generate Rs150 billion revenue. “I made strenuous efforts to turn Punjmin into a profitable entity with Rs400 million in profit, and recovered Rs4 billion from illegal mine leaseholders. I issued recovery notices worth Rs3 billion to PMDC and cement factories, and-launched a Rs650 million corruption reference against former officials, he maintained.
He said that he approved a record Rs1 billion allocations for the welfare of mine workers and their families. He reduced emergency response time to 4 minutes.
As Transport Minister, Murad said, he launched a revolutionary project of 26,000+ electric vehicles. He added, “I ensured a saving of Rs600 billion on road maintenance. I-initiated a Rs2.5 billion revenue plan for Orange Line and Metro Bus services. I completed Rs2.5 billion project for track works of Rawalpindi and Lahore Metro Bus Service.”
In public interest, he said, he brought transport fares down by 20 percent. “I endorsed free travel for 2.5 million students on Orange Line Train. I recorded highest Orange Line passenger number up to 250,000,” he said.
The minister went on to say that he revamped B, C, D category bus stations, and refurbished 200 bus shelters.
As Livestock Minister, he ensured historic registration of 6,567 farms and 132,428 animals. “I launched Pakistan’s first-ever Disease Control Center,-and banned smuggling and slaughtering of breeding female animals.-He initiated genetic improvement of 1.1 million non-descript cattle through insemination,” he said.
He further stated that he INSTALLED trackers on 256 livestock field vehicles, made financing of up to Rs10 million available to farmers through Bank of Punjab (BoP), and ensured implementation of Rs167m project on 38,000 acres for propagation of high protein fodder.
He also claimed to have-launched FMD control program, and-added 7 mobile veterinary labs for disease surveillance. He also declared Bahawalpur as Meat Zone, Sahiwal as Milk Zone to boost agricultural exports, Murad concluded.
