PESHAWAR: (Web Desk) A man shot his son dead in Badhber, a suburb of Peshawar, following an argument that ensued after the son planted a flag of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on the roof of the house.

A case was registered on the complaint of Arifur Rahman, brother of the deceased Attaur Rehman.

It was stated in the case that the father and son had exchanged bitter words on politics which enraged the father and he shot the son dead with a pistol.

Complainant Arifur Rahman said that his brother had been working as a sanitary worker in Qatar.

He added that Attaur Rehman had come on a two-month leave and was supposed to return to Qatar after 20 days.

He stated that the argument between his father and brother had started with the planting of a PTI flag on the roof of their house.

Arif said that his father had asked Attaur Rehman that he could vote for whoever he wanted, but planting the flag on the house was not good.

He added that Attaur Rehman had started arguing with his father that planting a flag was not a big deal, and eventually the argument escalated to such an extent that Noor Rehman took out a pistol and fired shots at his son.

Attaur Rehman was being taken to Lady Reading Hospital for treatment, but he died on the way. The accused ran away from the house after the incident.

According to Arif, his father is a retired person, and apparently, he does not belong to any political party. But, in his area, there is support for the Awami National Party (ANP), and representatives of ANP are elected.

SP Saddr Abdul Salam Khalid said that raids were being conducted in search of the accused.
