Lahore court remands Pervaiz Elahi into police custody for two days
Lahore: (Suno News) A court in Lahore Saturday remanded former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi into police custody for two days in the case of illegal appointments in the Punjab Assembly.
The Punjab ex-chief minister was produced before the court of Judicial Magistrate Imran Abid by the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE).
The ACE sought a 12-day physical remand of Pervaiz Elahi from the court. The judicial magistrate, however, granted only a two-day physical remand of the Punjab ex-chief minister. He pronounced the reserved judgement.
During the case proceedings, Pervaiz Elahi’s lawyer Amir Saeed Raan objected to the prosecution’s plea.
“Why do they need physical remand?” he questioned and wondered whether the prosecution wanted to recover money.
The lawyer for Pervaiz Elahi also denied the charges of bribe. “The ACE claims it has recovered Rs4.1 million from the house of Pervaiz Elahi, but it’s a lie because the ACE team never went to Elahi’s house,” he stated.
