Judiciary defamers to be dealt with sternly
ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) It has been decided to take stern action against those involved in defaming the judiciary on social media.
As per the official sources, the officers of the sensitive institutions submitted the plan of action to the head of the joint investigation team (JIT).
The first meeting of the JIT for the prevention of hate content against the judiciary was held at the headquarters of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Islamabad.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the FIA additional director general.
The decision to take action against those involved in defaming the judiciary on social media was taken in the meeting.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) was directed to collect information about those involved in spreading hate content against the judiciary and also collect all the details of those who upload, share, and comment on the content.
Arrests of those spreading anti-judiciary content are expected in the next phase, the sources added.
On Jan 16, the caretaker government decided to take stern action and constituted a six-member JIT to ‘ascertain facts behind malicious social media campaign’ against apex court judges.
The JIT has been formed under Section 30 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016, reads a notification issued by the interior ministry.
