Jamaat-e-Islami calls for protest in a press conference
Karachi: (Suno News) Jamaat-e-Islami has called for a protest against inflation in Karachi on October 2nd. Hafiz Na’eem ur Rehman announced that the protests would continue until their demands are met.
Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Hafiz Na’eem ur Rehman, held a press conference in Karachi, stating that they would expand the scope of the protest against inflation. They plan to stage sit-ins at 100 locations across Karachi and have announced a major demonstration on October 6th.
Hafiz Na’eem ur Rehman emphasized the need for a reduction in the dollar’s value to impact the prices of petroleum products. He called for ending the IMF circular debt, urging the government to impose taxes on the feudal class, which, according to him, sends their children abroad to study while the children of the working class resort to labor. He pointed out that not a single wheel stopped due to the nationwide protests, and even in Karachi, where protests were held at 15 locations, not a single ambulance was hindered; a clear path was provided for them. He also mentioned that similar protests would take place at a hundred locations across the country after the 12th of Rabi ul Awwal, and they would announce the next course of action.
Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi further stated that they are grateful to the people of Karachi for supporting their protest. He also expressed a desire for Jamaat-e-Islami workers to contribute to the cause. He stated that it has been proven that Jamaat-e-Islami can protest peacefully while maintaining law and order. He mentioned that a secure path was provided for ambulances on the city’s major roads during their protest. He hopes for positive results from their demonstrations and expects the protest on October 2nd to be successful.
Hafiz Na’eem ur Rehman added that their movement has become a nationwide one, and they want the dollar’s value to decrease further. He called for transparency regarding the dollars that are being earned, including details of those involved. If the dollar has decreased, it should lead to a reduction in the prices of petroleum products; otherwise, it is a matter of concern.
He criticized the ruling elite, stating that they are draining the country, while the common people work hard to make ends meet. He stressed the necessity of a protest movement against the oppression of the rulers. He called on the people to support Jamaat-e-Islami, saying that if the people stand with them, they will see results soon.
Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi also mentioned that they would join hands with the public to defeat the IMF’s agenda. He believes that when the masses rise against those who are exploiting them, even Allah helps them. He said that people are facing hardships, and a protest of just half an hour has made the government think. The protest against the IMF’s agenda will continue.
He urged the Chief Minister of Sindh to improve his performance and revive Yunus Dhaga’s ministry. He expressed concern about the presence of Governor Sindh at the inauguration of a park in Nazimabad and questioned why Governor Sindh has not appointed a spokesperson. Hafiz Na’eem ur Rehman emphasized that Governor Sindh should speak for the rights of the city and end the transition period. He invited Governor Sindh to meet and discuss what can be done for the city. He warned Governor Sindh and MQM that they would not allow the land mafia to operate in the city again.
