Jahangir Tareen quits politics
LAHORE: (Suno News) Jahangir Khan Tareen, the chairman of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), has announced his resignation from both his party position and politics entirely, following his defeat in the recent February 8 polls in the constituencies of NA-149 and NA-155.
Tareen suffered defeat in both constituencies by a huge margin, with PML-N and independent candidates emerging victorious in the respective constituencies.
Expressing gratitude to supporters and acknowledging the will of the people, Tareen stated his decision to step down in a post on social media platform X. He emphasised his commitment to serving the country in a private capacity.
I would like to thank everyone who supported me in this election and want to offer my congratulations to my opponents. I have immense respect for the will of the people of Pakistan. Therefore, I have decided to resign from my position as Chairman IPP and step away from politics…

Abdul Aleem Khan, the IPP President, expressed sadness at Tareen’s decision, lauding his contributions to the party and philanthropic activities.

It is to be noted here that Aleem Khan himself secured victories in the NA-117 and PP-149 constituencies.
