It’s time to take action on Gaza conflict, says Iranian president
RIYADH: (Suno News) Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi says that the time has come to act instead of talking about the Gaza conflict.
Before leaving for Saudi Arabia to attend the summit on the Gaza crisis, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said at the Tehran airport that Gaza is not a field of words, there must be action. “Today, the unity of Islamic countries is very important.”
On the other hand, after several days of temporary negotiations on the issue of hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Hamas and Israel have agreed to a humanitarian prisoner exchange agreement.
Informed sources confirmed the agreement which is the release of Palestinian women and children held by Israel in exchange for 100 female prisoners and children held by Hamas.
Israeli officials said their country is interested in a broader prisoner exchange deal. They further said negotiations regarding the prisoner exchange agreement are ongoing.
Israeli media have also reported that progress has been made under US-Qatari mediation regarding the exchange of prisoners.
On the other hand, a Hamas leader said the hostages will not be released without the release of all the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.
Hamas leader Osama Hamdan said Israel is obstructing Egyptian and Qatari efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza.
The information came as a result of multilateral discussions and efforts in which Qatar is playing an important mediating role.
Negotiations have been going on for weeks, with many ideas emerging so far, including the release of about 10 to 15 hostages in return for a one-day ceasefire.
However, two days ago, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated his position of rejecting the ceasefire and said there will be no ceasefire until the hostages are released. He said everything else is useless.
