Imran says will prefer death to striking a deal
RAWALPINDI: (Suno News) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has said that the illegal marriage case was made to humiliate him, adding that he will prefer death to striking a deal.
He was speaking to reporters in Adiala Jail after a verdict in the illegal marriage case was announced. He said that the punishment given to him in the Toshakhana case had not been given to anyone till date while the Iddat case was made to humiliate him. He deplored that over 200 cases had been registered against him.
The PTI leader said, “Record criminal cases have been registered against me till date but I will not strike a deal. I prefer death to striking a deal.” He added, “PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by the Supreme Court after a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) was formed. But all the cases were dismissed. Moreover, FIA had a strong case against Shahbaz Sharif but the same was dismissed.”
He said, “A punishment was announced in the cipher case. I was abducted, kept locked up for two days and tortured. I was in prison on May 9 and 10.”
Earlier, PTI Information Secretary Rauf Hassan said that Imran Khan would not strike a deal even if he was awarded harsher punishment than several years in jail.
Besides punishment Iddat case, an accountability court this week sentenced the couple to 14 years in prison with rigorous punishment in the Toshakhana reference. The blow came after a special court awarded 10-year imprisonment to Khan in a case related to cipher.
