Imran Khan, Qureshi granted bail in May 9 cases
RAWALPINDI: (Suno News) An anti-terrorism court (ATC) of Rawalpindi has granted bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi in all 12 cases related to the May 9 incidents.
ATC judge Malik Ijaz Asif granted bail to the PTI leaders. PTI lawyer Sheraz Ahmad Ranjha appeared in the court. The prosecution’s plea seeking more time was rejected.
Cases were registered against Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi at different police stations in Rawalpindi.
It should be noted here that after the arrest of Imran Khan from the premises of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in the Al-Qadir Trust case on May 9 last year, there was a nationwide protest by the PTI during which an office of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in Model Town and many military, civil, and private installations across the country were set on fire.
The protesters also stormed the Corps Commander’s residence in Lahore, also known as Jinnah House, and broke down a gate of the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
Subsequently, 1,900 people involved in vandalism and arson were arrested across the country, and cases were also registered against Imran Khan and his party leaders and workers.
