Fortune Barishal refutes match-fixing claims against Shoaib Malik
DHAKA: (Web Desk) Fortune Barishal refuted the media reports claiming Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik’s contract to play in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) was terminated due to match-fixing suspicions.
The Fortune Barishal spokesperson termed the media reports claiming the termination of Shoaib Malik‘s contract to play in the BPL due to match-fixing allegations baseless.
Fortune Barishal owner Mizanur Rehman said that Shoaib Malik was a good cricketer, adding that the Pakistani player had performed very well for his team.
It is to be noted here that Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik is currently playing in the BPL. Media reports earlier claimed that his contract to play in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) had been terminated due to match-fixing suspicions.
The match-fixing suspicions surrounded Malik after he bowled three no-balls in one over during a match against Khulna Tigers.
Malik had bowled only one over in the match and given away 18 runs. Fortune Barishal were handed an eight-wicket defeat by Khulna Tigers.
It merits a mention here that Shoaib Malik became the first cricketer in Asia and second in the world to score 13,000 runs in the T20 format while playing the BPL.
Shoaib Malik has recently married Pakistani actress Jana Javed after a divorce with Indian tennis star Sania Mirza. Both Shoaib and Sania Mirza got married in 2010, and they also have a son named Izhaan.
