According to police reports, the suspects admitted during interrogation that the attack was launched on the instructions of a person known as Shani Tiger. Police investigations later also disclosed that two other persons named Usman and Luqman planned this attack and were in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

It is pertinent to note that shooting was prompted by an online war of words between Shehzad Bhatti and Rajab Butt that had recently ended. The police claim Bhatti asked Shani Tiger to arrange the shooting, who in turn sent the attackers.

The suspects were arrested in point-specific raids by Chuhang Police in Valencia and surrounding areas. They were handed over to the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) unit for further investigation.

It is important to mention here that Rajab Butt, known for controversies, is fled to abroad after blasphemy charges. However,  at present, he has been granted interim bail in a case that was registered under PECA and Section 295-C on charges of blasphemy.
