(Web Desk): India has quietly removed the restrictions from social media accounts of several Pakistani celebrities.

Indian commentator Sonam Mahajan announced on X (formerly Twitter), “BREAKING: Instagram profiles of Pakistani stars Yumna Zaidi, Dananeer Mobeen, Ahad Raza Mir, Azaan Sami, Mawra Hocane, Ameer Gilani, and Danish Taimoor—previously restricted following the Pahalgam terror attack—are now accessible once again in India.”

These celebrities had faced digital blackouts after the Pahalgam incident in May, which India linked to Pakistan. However, Pakistan firmly rejected these claims calling this incident a ‘false flag operation’.

Amid cross border tensions, India had banned social media accounts of various Pakistani celebrities.

Now India has removed this ban restoring the accounts of selective Pakistani artists.

According to Indian entertainment outlet Filmfare, social media accounts and online content related to these Pakistani public figures can now be viewed in India without needing a VPN, marking a notable relaxation in the digital restrictions.

However, not all bans have been lifted. Actress Hania Aamir—currently featured alongside Diljit Dosanjh in Sardaar Ji 3 and previously popular in India—remains blocked.

Furthermore, major stars like Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, and Atif Aslam still face access limitations on Indian platforms, indicating that the easing of restrictions is selective and possibly temporary.

It is pertinent to note that India had also removed the pictures of Pakistani actors from Bollywood film posters, also removing their songs from the playlists.
