Electricity prices to be increased for K-Electric customers too
ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) Electricity prices are likely to be increased for the K-Electric (KE) customers too on account of adjustments in the first quarter of the financial year.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) issued a review notice regarding the increase in electricity prices. According to the review notice, a uniform tariff will be maintained as per government guidelines.
The power distribution companies (Discos) had requested the transfer of an additional burden of Rs22.56 billion to the customers.
According to the Nepra review notice, the increase in the electricity price on account of adjustments between July and September will be applicable to the K-Electric customers too.
The Nepra will review the first quarter adjustment plea on November 14.
It is learnt that the power distribution companies have sought permission to collect Rs12.126 billion in capacity charges, Rs10.247 billion under use of system charges, Rs4.680 billion for operation and maintenance, and Rs6.670 billion for damages.
On November 8, Wednesday, the power tariff was increased by 40 paise per unit on account of the monthly fuel-cost adjustment.
The Nepra issued a notification regarding the increase in the prices of electricity.
The Nepra okayed the 40 paise per unit hike in power tariff in view of the fuel cost adjustment for the month of September.
“Additional charges will be collected from electricity consumers in the November bills,” the Nepra notification had said.
“The increase will not be applicable to the Lifeline and K-Electric customers,” it had said earlier.
