Election campaign time is over; polling will be held tomorrow
ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) The election campaign time across the country ended at 12 am last night after which no rally, procession, or corner meeting by the candidates and political parties is allowed.
Legal action will be taken in case of violation. Polling for elections will be held tomorrow.
Broadcasting of election campaigns, advertisements, and other promotional materials on electronic or print media is also prohibited after the prescribed time.
All kinds of surveys on the media will also be banned until the election process is held.
On the other hand, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja has directed all the returning and presiding officers to ensure the provision of Form 45.
In his message, the CEC said that the presiding officer himself would sign Form 45 and get them signed by polling agents.
Also, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued a letter to the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) in which the latter was instructed to ensure the implementation of the code of conduct for national media on the day of general elections 2024.
In the letter, it was said that PEMRA should inform the media not to broadcast any material against Pakistan’s ideology, sovereignty, security, independence of judiciary, and national institutions.
Apart from this, no allegation or statement against national unity should be broadcast on electronic, social, and digital media.
It was also said in the letter that no material should be aired that might disturb the law and order situation during or after the polling process.
No survey should be conducted at polling stations on Election Day in print, electronic, or digital media.
Apart from this, it was also directed that PEMRA should ensure that no fake news is broadcast on Election Day.
Inconclusive unofficial results can be broadcast one hour after the end of polling. During polling, it should be ensured that the media does not disturb the election process.
