25 dead as blasts hit Pishin, Qila Saifullah election offices
PISHIN: (Suno News) As many as 25 people were killed and at least 50 others were injured in bomb blasts at election offices in Pishin and Qila Saifullah in Balochistan province a day before general elections in the country.
At least eight people died and 10 sustained injuries in a bomb blast near an election office of an independent candidate in the Khanozai area of Pishin.
According to rescue sources, the blast took place in the PB-43 constituency at the election office of independent candidate and former provincial minister Asfand Yar Kakar.
The injured and the bodies of the deceased were being shifted to the Pishin District Headquarter (DHQ) Hospital.
Those who were injured critically were being shifted to Quetta, the Pishin assistant commissioner said.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) took notice of the bomb blast and sought immediate reports from the Balochistan chief secretary and inspector general of police (IGP). The ECP ordered stern action against the accused involved.
On the other hand, five people were killed and 10 injured in a bomb blast at an election office of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) in Qila Saifullah. The injured and bodies of the deceased were shifted to Qila Saifullah Hospital, according to police.
It is to be noted here that the election campaign time across the country ended at 12 am last night after which no rally, procession, or corner meeting by the candidates and political parties is allowed. Polling for elections will be held tomorrow.
