ECP issues notices over Atta Tarar’s vote buying allegations
LAHORE: (Web Desk) The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has served notices on PML-N leader Atta Tarar and PPP leader Misbahur Rehman in the wake of the former’s allegations that the latter was involved in buying votes.
The high temperature in the constituency indicates that tough competition is likely between Tarar and Bilawal as both the parties are utilizing resources in the constituency. The PPP has accused the rivals of using the caretaker government machinery for Tarar’s campaign while the PML-N has alleged the PPP buying votes.
Yesterday, PML-N candidate Atta Tarar allegedly barged into the PPP office in NA-127 constituency along with his supporters claiming that votes were being bought there for PPP candidate Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari.
After the rivalry intensified due to the alleged attack, the PPP had announced that it will move the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against the PML-N candidate.
The Punjab provincial election commissioner took action against the alleged buying of votes by the PPP leaders.
Both the candidates – Tarar from NA-127 and Rehman from PP-160 – were asked to provide supporting evidence for their respective claims on February 5.
