?How Much Fidya Should Be Paid for One Fast
09 مارچ 2026
Allah Almighty has prescribed in the Holy Qur’an that the fidya for one fast is equivalent to providing two meals to a poor person. Every fasting person should pay the fidya according to their means and financial ability. Allah says:
"But whoever volunteers excess, it is better for him" (Surah Al-Baqarah: 184).
The amount of fidya is the same as Fitrana. Each person should pay, according to their financial capacity, the value of:
- 2 kg of wheat, or
- 4 kg of barley, or
- 4 kg of dates, or
- 4 kg of raisins, or
- the equivalent value in cheese.
In our region, the 2 kg of wheat or its equivalent value is considered the minimum amount for fidya and Fitrana.
