Court releases written judgement in Toshakhana case

ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) The accountability court, which sentenced Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to 14 years in prison in the Toshakhana reference, released the written verdict in the case on Friday.

The 23-page written judgement, issued by accountability court judge Muhammad Bashir, stated that the prosecution had succeeded in proving its case.

“PTI founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi are sentenced to 14 years in prison. Time served in jail will be considered included in the sentence,” the judgement announced the sentence.

It also said that the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi had got a financial benefit of Rs1573.72 million by misusing the Prime Minister’s office. “Both were found guilty of damaging the national exchequer. Public property was acquired through fraud.”

The court on Jan 31 sentenced both Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to 14 years in prison with hard labour in the Toshakhana reference. It also barred Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi from holding any public office for 10 years and imposed a fine of Rs787 million on both of them.
