COAS urges youth to beware of social media propaganda
RAWALPINDI: (Suno News) Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday said that the purpose of propaganda on social media is to spread uncertainty, chaos and despair, stressing a need for confirming social media news before sharing.
“Without research and positive thinking, a society remains chaotic,” said the army chief. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Asim Munir delivered a historic address during the Pakistan National Youth Conference held at the Jinnah Convention Centre Islamabad. He said, “I feel very happy to address the architects of the future of Pakistan and Shaheen of Iqbal.”
The army chief added, “The purpose of creating Pakistan was that our religion, culture and civilization are different from Hindus’ in all respects and not that we should adopt Western civilization and culture. The youth should have immense confidence in their homeland, nation, culture, civilization and themselves.
The army chief said that the youth of Pakistan should be sure that they were the children of a great nation. “The youth of our nation are the guardians of the bright traditions of the nation, and also are the interpretation of the dreams of Allama Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah,” he added.
General Asim Munir further said that the Pakistani forces could fight against terrorists, but the cooperation of the entire nation is necessary for the purpose. The army chief added that Allah Almighty says in the Holy Qur’an: “O you who believe! If any evildoer comes to you with any news, confirm it”. “There are similarities between Pakistan and the State of Madina because both were established in the name of Allah. Allah Almighty has blessed Pakistan with abundant mineral resources, agriculture and young manpower,” he maintained.
He further stated that Muslims thank Allah Almighty for patience in difficulty and in ease. “Our forces are always ready against all kinds of threats and conspiracies. If there is Pakistan then we are, if there is no Pakistan then we are nothing. Pakistan will not compromise on its sovereignty. We should have full faith in the bright future of Pakistan and uphold the legacy of our ancestors,” he added.
During the speech, the students also raised slogans such as ‘Pakistan Army Zindabad’, ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ and ‘Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad’.
