CM Mohsin Naqvi to replace Zaka as PCB chairman
KARACHI: (Suno News) A decision has been made to nominate Interim Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi for the role of the coveted post of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) chairman, Suno News has learnt.
Mohsin Naqvi who is serving as the caretaker Punjab chief minister, will be officially nominated after PCB Patron-in-Chief and caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar’s approval. If approved, Naqvi will replace the PCB Management Committee former chairman Zaka Ashraf, in the Board of Governors.
Also the chief minister has confirmed his appointment while speaking to media persons in Lahore soon after the news broke out. He said, “I will try to fix the issues affecting Pakistan cricket. Reforms in cricket are the need of the hour.”
Last Friday, Zaka Ashraf announced his resignation from the position as chairman of the PCB Management Committee during the committee’s meeting. He became part of PCB’s Board of Governors on July 6, and also replaced Najam Sethi as chairman.
Zaka said, “I was working for the betterment of cricket but it is not possible for us to work in this way.” He added, “Now it is up to Prime Minister [Kakar], whomever he nominates [will take my place].”
