Can’t arrange Imran’s telephone talk with sons, Adiala Jail superintendent tells court
RAWALPINDI: (Suno News) The Adiala Jail superintendent Wednesday told a special court that he could not arrange a telephone talk of former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan with his sons.
The superintendent, in his reply, told the special Official Secrets Act (OSA) court in Islamabad in the contempt case against him that he had arranged Imran Khan’s conversation with his sons on October 18.
He told the court that one could not talk to people living abroad on WhatsApp for an indefinite time period.
He said the court could give instructions to the Punjab Home Department to amend the rules in that regard.
The superintendent also referred to the letter written by the IG prisons regarding the suspects imprisoned under the OSA and stated that such prisoners did not have the facility of PCO.
He also made it clear before the court that he did not even think of defying the court orders and prayed to the court to dispose of the contempt petition against him.
Shiraz Ahmad Ranjha, lawyer for the PTI, had appeared in the court.
Further hearing of the case had to be adjourned till Monday as Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain was absent.
It is worth mentioning here that the special OSA court had issued a contempt notice to the jail superintendent for not arranging a telephone talk between Imran Khan and his sons—Qasim and Suleiman.
PTI’s lawyer Shiraz Ahmad Ranjha had filed a contempt petition against the jail superintendent.
