Cabinet approves army deployment for 2024 elections
ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) Taking an important decision, the caretaker federal cabinet has approved the deployment of army and civil armed forces for the general elections to be held on February 8, 2024.
The caretaker federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar decided that the troops of the Civil Armed Forces would act as quick response teams in sensitive areas.
In the meeting, a summary of the interior ministry for the deployment of the army for elections was presented on an emergency basis for approval. The cabinet approved the deployment of the Pakistan Army and Civil Armed Forces for elections in sensitive constituencies.
The final decision regarding the restructuring of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) could not be taken in the federal cabinet.
The cabinet, however, approved the establishment of a committee for reforms in FBR. The committee will be headed by Caretaker Finance Minister Shamshad Akhtar. The federal ministers of IT, Commerce, Investment, Law, and Foreign Affairs will be included in the committee. This committee will submit proposals to the cabinet for reforms.
