ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) Pakistan will receive $1.1 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as a staff-level agreement has been reached between the two on the final review of the $3 billion Stand-by Arrangement (SBA).

The final tranche of $1.1 billion will be released to Pakistan after the approval from the IMF Executive Board. Pakistan has already got $1.9 billion under the SBA.

On Tuesday, the final round of talks between Pakistan and the IMF for the $1.1 billion tranche concluded on a positive note.

It is to be noted here that the IMF team reached a staff-level agreement (SLA) with the Pakistani authorities under the $3 billion SBA on November 15, 2023.

Earlier, sources in the Finance Ministry said that Pakistan would hopefully get the last tranche of $1.1 billion by the mid of April. They said that negotiations with the IMF had concluded on a positive note. “The talks were particularly focused on a letter of intent and the finalisation of the draft Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policies,” they added.

The Ministry of Finance sources said the negotiations had progressed positively, and there were no deadlocks or obstacles to their success. “The talks, originally scheduled from March 14 to 18, concluded in a constructive and positive manner,” they added.
