OGRA approves gas price hike

ISLAMABAD (Suno News): The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has approved the hike in gas prices for the current financial year.

According to the statement issued by OGRA, the body approved a hike of 8.71 per cent in gas prices for Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL), whereas a hike of 25.78 per cent has been approved for Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL).

The regulatory body determined the price hike in gas prices under Section 8(2) of the Ogra Ordinance, 2002. The OGRA has sent the determinations to the federal government.

The final decision of the hike in gas prices will be made after federal government’s approval, statement read. A hike of Rs142.45, raising the price to Rs1,778.35 per MMBTU was proposed for Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL). The body determined a hike of Rs1762.51 per MMBTU for Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL).

OGRA stated that the federal government had been requested to provide guidance on the category-wise sale prices. "Any revision, as advised by the federal government, will be notified by OGRA," it said. "Until then, the existing category-wise natural gas sale prices will remain in effect," it added.
