ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Sugar price surge has shocked Pakistan as rates climbed to Rs229 per kilo in several cities.

Sugar prices climbed sharply in multiple cities, creating fresh concern among consumers already dealing with rising household expenses. According to official data, the highest price of sugar has now reached up to Rs229 per kilo in parts of the country.

Sources reveal that Quetta has witnessed the most notable jump. Over the past week, the city saw an increase of Rs19 per kilo, pushing the price from Rs210 to Rs229. The Federal Bureau of Statistics confirms that residents of Quetta are currently paying the highest sugar price in the country.

In Peshawar, the maximum rate stands at Rs200 per kilo. Meanwhile, in Karachi and Islamabad, sugar is being sold for up to Rs195 per kilo. These rising figures highlight the continued pressure on household budgets as prices remain unpredictable.

The report further states that in Rawalpindi, the maximum rate has touched Rs190 per kilo. Interestingly, the city also saw a slight weekly decrease of Rs2.01, bringing the average price to Rs185.47 per kilo.

According to the Bureau of Statistics, last week’s national average sugar price was Rs187.48 per kilo. A year earlier, the average price stood at Rs132.24 per kilo, showing a steep year-to-year rise.

People are feeling the pressure as sugar prices keep rising. The jump is noticeable in almost every city. Many families worry about how long this trend will continue. The difference from last year is very large, and this is adding stress to daily life. The next reports may show if prices settle or climb even higher.
