Karachi (Web Desk): Pakistan’s remittances rose to $3.5 billion in January as overseas inflows show strong growth, according to figures shared by the State Bank.

Pakistan received $3.5 billion in workers’ remittances in January 2026, showing a strong increase of 15.4 percent compared to the same month last year, the State Bank of Pakistan said.

The central bank reported that during the first seven months of the current financial year, total remittances reached $23.2 billion. This was up 11.3 percent from $20.9 billion recorded in the same period last year.

Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of remittances in January, sending $739.6 million to Pakistan.

The United Arab Emirates followed closely, with inflows of $694.2 million during the month.

The steady rise follows a record-breaking performance in December 2025. Adviser to the Finance Minister Khurram Shehzad earlier said remittances crossed $3.6 billion in that month.

He noted that December 2025 remittances were 17 percent higher than December 2024 and 13 percent higher than November 2025.

According to Khurram Shehzad, total remittances during the first half of fiscal year 2026 reached $19.7 billion. This marked a sharp 41 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

He also expressed confidence that total remittances for the full fiscal year 2026 would cross $41 billion.
