The European Commission and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) have lifted the ban on PIA s operations to European countries.
Defence and Aviation Minister Khawaja Asif announced the development, crediting the efforts of the Ministry of Aviation and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in meeting international safety standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). He described this as a historic achievement, made possible through the Ministry s focused attention and hard work.
The Minister emphasized that the lifting of the ban would not only improve PIA s operations but also aid in the privatization process of the national airline. He noted that this was a crucial step in restoring PIA and the aviation industry to their former glory, and expressed hope that other countries, including the UK, would follow suit in removing their restrictions.
It is important to note that PIA faced significant challenges starting June 30, 2020, when the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) suspended its flights to European countries due to concerns over fake pilot licences. However, under a temporary permit, PIA was allowed to operate flights until July 3, 2020.
The end of the ban will not only restore PIA’s European routes but is also expected to improve the airline s international reputation. Furthermore, this success will contribute to the growth of the country s aviation industry and create new investment opportunities.
