
The price of high speed diesel has moved up by Rs8.14 per litre and reached at Rs290.38 per litre for the next 15 days, says the notification.
Fifteen days ago, the government had increased the petrol price by Rs9.66 per litre.
The government had to increase the petrol price after International Monetary Fund had asked it to impose 18 percent General Sales Tax (GST) on fuel products.
Earlier today it was predicted that the government is likely to drop another “petrol bomb” on the people who are already facing starvation and committing suicide due to rising inflation in the country particularly due to everyday increase in electricity and gas tariffs.
Already worried about exorbitant prices of daily use items, the people will suffer a big blow if the government increases prices of petroleum products. As per sources, the government is likely to raise POL products’ prices.
Due to the tension in the Middle East and the threats of the World War III, oil prices in the international market have gone down while the government has decided to increase POL products’ prices.
The summary of petroleum product price changes was sent by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to the government. The finance ministry announced the new price tonight after consultation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
