The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued a notification regarding the reduction in the price of electricity per unit.
According to the notification issued by NEPRA, the price of electricity per unit has been reduced by 2 rupees and 12 paisas for all DISCOs across the country, while for Karachi, electricity has been made 3 rupees per unit cheaper.
According to NEPRA, consumers will receive the benefit of this reduction in their March bills. For K-Electric, electricity has been reduced in the form of monthly fuel price adjustment for December 2024.
The notification issued by NEPRA also mentions that, apart from K-Electric, electricity prices have been reduced for other DISCOs under the January 2025 fuel price adjustment.
NEPRA has issued separate notifications for the price reduction of electricity for Karachi and other DISCOs under the monthly fuel price adjustment.
It is noteworthy that the government is negotiating with Independent Power Producers (IPPs), and satisfactory results are emerging from these discussions. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has repeatedly expressed his commitment to providing as much relief as possible to the public in electricity bills.
