LAHORE (Web Desk): Leading Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Letin Auto Group has announced the establishment of a plant in the province of Punjab to manufacture small electric vehicles.

This project is being described as a major initiative to promote investment and employment in Punjab.

During a meeting with Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain in Lahore, a 15-member delegation led by the company s general manager discussed the details of the project.

The Minister of Industries assured the delegation of the full support of the Punjab government and informed that facilities such as ten-year income tax exemption and duty-free import of machinery are being provided to foreign investors for investing in special economic zones.

Experts say that Punjab is rapidly becoming a hub for foreign investors, where new investments are not only boosting the economy but also creating employment opportunities for thousands of people.

Letin Auto Group completed its restructuring in 2024 after going bankrupt in China in 2023 and is now working on a strategy to make Pakistan, especially Punjab, a hub for local production and exports.

Brands like BYD , Changan and MG are already active in the Pakistani market, while more companies are also considering the possibilities of assembling and producing smart vehicles. If vehicles from Chinese companies are introduced at a reasonable price, not only will consumers have access to better and cheaper alternative vehicles, but it will also promote technology transfer, component manufacturing and the battery industry in the local auto industry.

According to economic experts, this project will strengthen the industrial structure of Punjab as well as open the doors to new investment, technology and exports. This development is being described as a precursor to a major change in the Pakistani auto market, which could have significant impacts locally and internationally in the future.
