KARACHI (Web Desk): Good news of relief has come to light for the electricity consumers of the city.

According to details, K-Electric has submitted a request to NEPRA (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority) for a reduction in the price of electricity by Rs4.69 per unit.

This application has been filed in the name of monthly fuel price adjustment, which aims to pass on the benefit of reduced fuel prices to consumers. The NEPRA authority will hold a regular hearing on this application of K-Electric on June 19.

It should be noted that if NEPRA approves this request, Karachi s electricity consumers are likely to receive a total relief of Rs7.17 billion, which could prove to be a major relief in the current era of inflation.

It is expected that the impact of this potential reduction in electricity rates will be clearly visible in next month s electricity bills, which will relieve some of the financial pressure on consumers.

It should be remembered that the repeated increase in electricity prices in recent months had worried the citizens of Karachi.

The potential reduction is being seen as a welcome step. All eyes are now on the NEPRA hearing scheduled for June 19.
