Bilawal opts out of race to become prime minister
LAHORE: (Suno News) Pakistan People’s Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Tuesday said that he had opted out of the race to become prime minister of Pakistan due to split mandate given by the people in the general elections.
Bilawal, who has repeatedly appealed to the public during his election campaign to vote him to the power and make him prime minister of Pakistan, announced his decision during a press conference.
He said that the people had given split mandate to the political parties and no one was in a position to form the government.
He further stated that the PML-N had contacted with his party to make alliance for the formation of government. He added that his party contested the elections on the national economic agenda. He further said that the PPP had formed a committee to make a decision on the issue of the formation of government. In case of alliance with the PML-N, he said, his party would support the PM candidate but would not become part of the government, nor would the PPP get ministries in the centre.
“So, I want to give hope to the people of Pakistan. I want to give a message to the people of Pakistan that the chaos being seen on the TV screen, international institutions’ uncertainty about political stability in Pakistan and Pakistani people’s concerns about sorry state of affairs of the country, I want to assure you all that parliamentary government will be formed and your problems will be resolved Insha’Allah.”
Moments ago, the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTH) announced its decision to make political alliance with the Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) in the centre and Punjab, and with the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa province
PTI’s secretary information Rauf Hassan. quoted PTI Chairman Imran Khan as saying, “Seeking loans and financial assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is not a solution to the national crises. And to steer the country out of crises, it is necessary to form a strong government.”
“Therefore,” he added, “The PTI has decided to form the government by making alliance with MWM in the centre and the Punjab province. And we will form government along with Jamaat-e-Islami in KP.”
