Bilawal Bhutto hopes election victory at last moment
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari expressed hoped that only the public could change the results of tomorrow’s general elections at last moment in his party’s favour.
During an interview, however, he said, “It has been done, but I have full faith in our Pakistani people. If the public is confident about the election results, they can change the results at last moment.”
He added that he did not think that the results of the general elections were predetermined. “If it were so, I would not have worked so hard during the election campaign, I have gone to all the four provinces in connection with my election campaign,” he added.
The PPP Chairman further said, “if I had felt that the results of the election had been decided in advance, I would not have worked so hard in the election campaign.”
Criticizing the newspapers advertisement campaign run by the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N), he said that a political party was giving the impression that there was no need for elections because their leader (Nawaz Sharif) had become the prime minister of Pakistan.
Earlier, Bilawal concluded his election campaign with a fiery speech in his hometown of Larkana. He issued stern warnings against vote tampering and launching veiled attacks on his political rivals.
Without directly naming his rivals, he criticised former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and mentioned past controversies surrounding his ousting from the office of prime minister. He affirmed that if Nawaz Sharif returned to power for a fourth term, his tenure would likely be short-lived.
The PPP’s rally at the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Municipal Stadium in Larkana ended the its election drive for February 8 elections.
Bilwal set two immediate goals – uniting the country and providing relief to the masses. He claimed that only the PPP was capable of steering the country out of this difficult situation.
