Army, civil forces to ensure peace during elections: Notification
ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) After approval from the federal cabinet, a notification was issued on Thursday for the deployment of army and civil armed forces personnel at sensitive constituencies and polling stations to ensure peace during February 8 elections.
According to the notification, the army personnel will be deployed in the country under Article 245 of the Constitution, the army will be deployed outside the sensitive polling stations as a quick response force. The army troops will be deployed from February 5 to 10.
Security personnel will be deployed to make the elections transparent and peaceful. Meanwhile, civil armed forces have been deployed in and around Printing Corporation of Pakistan and Pakistan Post Foundation.
Earlier, the caretaker federal cabinet approved the deployment of army and civil armed forces personnel for the general elections to be held on February 8, 2024. Army troops will act as quick response teams in sensitive areas.
The caretaker federal cabinet meeting was chaired by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar. In the meeting, the summary of army deployment was presented for approval.
The Federal Cabinet approved deployment of Pakistan Army and Civil Armed Forces’ personnel for maintaining peace and security during upcoming elections.
