America will not abandon Israel: Antony Blinken
Tel Aviv: (Suno News) American Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed unity with Israel, saying that as long as America is here, you will never be alone; we will always stand by your side.
He made this statement today on Thursday, October 12, 2023, during a press conference with the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.
During his Middle East tour, Blinken initiated his visit with a show of unity with Israel. Israel has embarked on its most extensive bombing campaign in its 75-year history of conflict with the Palestinians.
Blinken’s mission in the region is challenging because he will attempt to secure the release of individuals under Hamas’ custody, some of whom are believed to be American citizens. The goal of the visit to Israel is also to send a warning to Iran.
In his press conference, Antony Blinken said, “America will not leave you alone. I am here not only as an American envoy but as a Jew. My grandparents are Jewish. Personally, I understand the significance of any form of Jewish persecution.”
The condition for the release of prisoners and detainees:
Israeli Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz stated that his country would not allow essential or humanitarian supplies to reach Gaza until Hamas releases its prisoners and detainees following the recent rocket attacks. Steinitz also emphasized that no one should lecture Israel on ethics.
It is worth noting that the Red Cross has called for the release of detainees, warning that the complete closure imposed by Israel on Gaza’s crossings could lead to a power outage in Gaza’s hospitals due to a lack of fuel. Food shortages and a lack of clean water are exacerbating the situation.
Palestinian authorities have reported that since the beginning of the conflict, more than 1,200 people have been killed, and over 5,000 have been injured.
